Canadian researchers this year reported that the blood of 93 percent of pregnant women and 80 percent of their umbilical cord blood samples contained a pesticide implanted in GMO corn by the biotech company Monsanto, even though digestion is supposed to remove it from the body.
“Given the potential toxicity of these environmental pollutants and the fragility of the fetus, more studies are needed,” they wrote in Reproductive Toxicology.
If there’s nothing harmful about GMOs, then Monsanto shouldn’t have a problem telling us when we’re eating them. Whether you’re for or against GMOs, people should be able to chose whether or not they want to be guinea pigs.
GMO ingredients need to be labeled, end of story.
“But GMOs aren’t THAT bad!” Promote agricultural biodiversity. End the privatization of seeds.
